Alana Edwards has been singing since she was a young girl by mimicking her mother who had a natural ability to sing and play the piano by ear. She also sang in the church at the tender age of 5 years old. She would practice singing in her basement with her brother and his friends. As she got older she always found herself in schools plays, choirs and high school musical events. There wasn’t much to do in Stevensville, Ontario, so music was one of her main interests that she enjoyed and it kept her company through the tough times. Her 6th grade teacher Miss Long was a professional opera singer and took her under her wing. She mentored Alana with confidence and trained her vocally as an opera singer. Alana soon realized that she was a good singer after winning Kiwanis festivals while in school.

Then, one day she auditioned for a play called “Singing In The Rain” in the Lilly Langtry’s Dining Room Theatre at Maple Leaf Village in Niagara Falls, Ontario; it was then that she realized that music was what she wanted to do for her profession. After finishing school, it became easy to work in bands after they heard her voice. Alana started auditioning in bands around Niagara Falls to get into the club scene. Her first band was “Stegeon Witch”, a four piece band playing blues and rock music. Next she joined the Le’Funk band which was a funk and disco band. 'Vocal Singer' became her profession which propelled her into larger venues with better bands.

Her first ‘Tina Turner’ Tribute Band was called ‘Simply Tina’ which allowed her to perform on cruise ships and travel abroad. While performing in England, She met Elton John in the 'Hippodrome' who thought she was Tina Turner until he appraoched her and realized she wasn’t Tina Turner. In conversation with Elton, she shared her love for Tina Turner and did this tribute show to honor Tina’s music.

He enjoyed her show and gave her tickets to an annual charity concert event for ‘up and coming’ musicians. The backstage passes Elton gave her and the band put them in the company of some the greatest musicians in that era. They were introduced to Robert Plant, Paul McCartney, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, Elton John and many other seasoned musicians playing the concert scene at that time.

Yearning to be back on land, Alana left the cruise ship performances and relocated back to Ontario where she joined the music circuit and has been playing around the GTA ever since. Soon she started her family and became a featured guest singer in local bands for a while and also sang with the ‘Unity Band’ comprised of Michael Fonfara, Pat Carey, Vito Rizza, Brian Fraser, Brian Gausey, Johnny Wright, Jay Douglas, Elaine Kilpatrick and Penny Skolski.

In the past five years, she hosted the ‘Danforth Jam Band’ at the Black Swan featuring John Long on drums and still continues to host the ‘NTB Jam Band’ every last Saturday in the month at the NTB Lounge in Etobicoke. She has been working on producing an album, doing studio work with recording artists, performing the Tina Turner Tribute show annually and singing with the ‘AZZ 1 Band’. The AZZ 1 Band is a high energy dance band playing locally in the city for the past four years. They are a four to six piece band comprised of musicians that have played in different groups for the past 25 years. The club audiences have enjoyed an array of music that covers Top 40 to Jazz, to Soul and R&B, and Soft Rock to the Blues. Her fan club continues to grow as well as her facebook followers.
